As a Crossfitter and weight lifter I appreciate their knowledge of all the movements and how to help these improve."
Alan DeVall

"The epitome of what you think physical therapy should be like. Personal, Tailored, Attentive 1x1 care to help you, BE YOU again! I've gone to many PTs and was always dissatisfied with the attention I was given as I was one of two or even three patients the PT was seeing at the same time. Not here. Here the focus is on you.
Tyler Engalla
"I've enjoyed my experience at Athlete's Edge - it's the place to go if you want the full athlete approach.  The team has an endless pool of exercises and help keep you motivated. I also really* appreciate they do dry needling on me as I need it - and I need it often."
Mia Cheeseman
"I went to multiple physical therapy places before coming here. This is by far the best and most welcoming pt place of all time. I had a struggle with finding therapists that knew how to treat baseball players and my specific injury. Dr. Traxler improved my arm drastically and we always had a fun time in the process. 5 STARS"
Jackson Hamilton
"Justin Traxler has been incredible. He is not only highly knowledgeable, but he was highly invested in my condition and thoroughly researched, consulted colleagues, and even spoke with my orthopedic doctor multiple times before and after appointments. I can't recommend Justin enough. I am a sports professional so I've seen a lot of PTs and this clinic is above the rest."

FAQs

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Suspendisse varius enim in eros elementum tristique.

How long does it take to recover from shin splints?

Recovery time varies based on severity, but most of our Austin patients see significant improvement in 6-8 sessions compared to 12+ at traditional clinics. Our comprehensive approach addresses the root cause—not just symptoms—which leads to faster, more complete recovery. We'll give you a personalized timeline after your initial evaluation based on your specific condition and training goals.

Do you accept insurance for shin splints treatment in Austin?

We offer transparent, all-inclusive pricing with no surprise bills or treatment limitations dictated by insurance. Our model allows us to provide full 60-minute one-on-one sessions with a Doctor of Physical Therapy every visit—something insurance-based clinics can't offer. Many clients find that fewer total sessions and better outcomes make our approach more cost-effective. We can provide documentation for potential insurance reimbursement.

3. What makes your shin splints treatment different from traditional physical therapy?

Unlike traditional PT clinics where you might see an aide or assistant for 15-30 minutes, you get a full 60 minutes one-on-one with a Doctor of Physical Therapy every single session. We include advanced techniques like dry needling, running gait analysis, and comprehensive manual therapy at no extra cost. Our athlete-focused approach means we don't just get you pain-free—we optimize your performance and prevent re-injury.

Can I continue running while getting shin splints treatment?

This depends on your specific situation. We'll assess your condition and create a modified training plan that allows you to maintain fitness without making your shin splints worse. Our team includes Certified Endurance Running Coaches and Running Rehab Specialists who understand the balance between rest and active recovery. We often incorporate cross-training, technique modifications, and progressive return-to-running protocols.

What should I bring to my first shin splints appointment?

Bring comfortable athletic clothing you can move in, your running shoes (and any other shoes you train in), and any relevant medical records or imaging if you have them. We'll ask about your training history, running goals, and what you've already tried. Be prepared for a comprehensive 60-minute evaluation where we'll assess your movement patterns, strength, and biomechanics to identify the root cause of your shin splints.
